What is a Pressure Transducer

Over the years, pressure transducers have provided a convenient, accurate and reliable method of controlling and monitoring pressure in thousands of applications, as well as being used indirectly to measure variables such as fluid/gas, water level, flow and speed.

What is a Pressure Transducer?

The sensor is usually housed in a metal body which provides environmental protection and is sealed by an electrical connection, most commonly the DIN 43650 plug and socket. The electrical connection provides the means to power the sensor and convey the output signal. By attaching an amplifier to the sensor, the low level signal can be converted to either an increased voltage output or a current output. This enables easy integration into process and control systems requiring modular inputs and can be transmitted over far greater distances.

The Importance of Intrinsic Safety in Instrumentation for the Mining Industry

Intrinsic safety (IS) is a critical design and operational principle in instrumentation used within the mining industry. Mines are often classified as hazardous areas due to the presence of flammable gases, combustible dust, or reactive substances. Intrinsically safe instrumentation is engineered to operate with energy levels below those capable of igniting such volatile environments, ensuring that safety and operational efficiency are not compromised.
